Euro/GBP stabilizes, currency pairs remain above key technical resistance levels

The Euro (EUR) consolidated the pound (GBP) on Monday, with the market focusing on key economic data and geopolitical developments.
As of writing, EUR/GBP trades are above the 100-day simple moving average (SMA) and are strongly supported above the key psychological level of 0.8400.
In the euro zone, the manufacturing sector showed signs of recovery on Monday, with the HCOB euro zone manufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI) rising from 49.0 in April to 49.4 in May, a 33-month high. Although the market interprets the data as the sector may emerge from its previous downturn, it is still below the 50.0 growth threshold, indicating that expansion has not been achieved.
The UK manufacturing sector continues to face challenges, with the S&P Global UK Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) slightly rising from 45.4 in April to 46.4 in May. Although this is the highest reading since February, it is still below the neutral 50.0 threshold, indicating that the contraction is still continuing.
In addition, the upcoming meeting between Germany's new Prime Minister Friedrich Melz and U.S. President Donald Trump may further affect market sentiment in the euro/GBP. Discussions on transatlantic relations, trade policy and Ukraine conflict may affect market expectations about euro economic stability and geopolitical alignment. Any changes in U.S.-European relations could lead to changes in investors' perceptions of eurozone stability, affecting the euro/GBP currency pair, especially in the context of current economic difficulties in the UK.
Euro/GBP find support above the 100-day simple moving average
Euro/GBP continues to be at 100 at 0.8415The daily simple moving average (SMA) trades above and above the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the March-September 2022 trend close to 0.8428. The 50-day SMA is now at the resistance level of 0.8472; breaking through this level may open the door to a bullish extension towards a psychological level of 0.8500.
The relative strength index (RSI) is 49, gradually approaching the neutral range 50.
To regain confidence in the bears, if they fall below the 100-day SMA and 0.8400, it may lead to a retest of May's low of 0.8378 and may return to previous trend line resistance, with support now at 0.8350.
