GBP/USD stabilizes after Bank of England maintains interest rates, geopolitical risks support USD

The pound traded within the familiar level after hitting a four-week low of 1.3382, rebounded and rose more than 0.03% against the US dollar, thanks to the Bank of England's (BoE) decision to keep interest rates unchanged. Rising geopolitical risks continue to limit the GBP/USD gains as the dollar continues its rebound.

Earlier, the Bank of England decided to keep interest rates unchanged with a 6-3 split vote, a move amid sudden rise in oil prices related to the Israel-Iran conflict. The bank acknowledged that the UK labor market was weak, which investors believe indicates that policy easing may be further relaxed in the future.

The minutes of the Bank of England (BoE) meeting showed that consensus among members of the Monetary Policy xmserving.committee (MPC) on rate cuts at the August meeting was growing. GBP/USD Price Forecast: Technical Outlook

The upward trend of GBP/USD is at risk as the pair falls below 1.3400 and tests the 50-day moving average of 1.3385. Although buyers lifted the exchange rate back above 1.3400, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicates that traders are turning slightly bearish. Therefore, unless the RSI climbs above the neutral line of 50, the downside risk remains.

In the upward trend, the key resistance is at 1.3450, 1.3476 (June 18 high), followed by the 20-day moving average of 1.3519. On the downside, the first support for GBP/USD is 1.3400, the day's lows of 1.3382 and 1.3300 levels.
