The US dollar/CHF was under pressure on Tuesday, as the overall dollar continued to weaken, the exchange rate fell to the lower limit of the recent range. Global markets are weighing the extraordinary volatility of the NTD on Monday and its potential contagious effects on Asian currencies. Although the NTD has cut some gains after central bank intervention, concerns about broader foreign exchange changes are still driving cautious market positioning.

The US dollar index (DXY) traded around 99.74 and fell for the second consecutive day. The market is awaiting the results of the Fed's two-day policy meeting, which begins today. Interest rates are not expected to change, and updated forecasts will not be released until the June 17-18 meeting. However, the market will closely monitor the speech of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell for guidance on the timing and extent of potential rate cuts. Recent data, especially with the ISM service industry PMI of 51.6 in April and the strong non-farm employment of 177,000, suggest that the Fed can be patient, although the second-quarter GDP outlook remains mixed, with the model showing growth between 1.1% and 2.3%.
